Egyrészt bevezetés kíván lenni Harmincéves Educatio további tanulmányaihoz; másrészt pedig visszapillantás EDU 1992–2018 között szerkesztett Mérleg -számaira. Ezek számok olvashatók mind papír alapon, online formában. Ami nem olvasható, keletkezéstörténetük. A -számok ötletéről, szerkesztés körülményeiről, körüli vitákról, valamint megjelenés izgalmakról szól ez cikk. Fejezeteit egyes alkotják, amelyek átfogják három évtizedes történetét.
